Leadership isn’t power. It’s purpose
True leadership isn’t about being in charge. It’s about being in service: to your team, your clients and your community.

Leadership is an act of service
In a world that sometimes celebrates the loudest voices, it’s easy to forget that the most effective leaders often aren’t the ones out front, but the ones lifting others up.
That kind of leadership recently earned (add)ventures the Stewards of Leadership Award from Leadership Rhode Island (LRI) at its 45th Anniversary Gala. The recognition was meaningful not for the attention, but for what it represents: the belief that leadership, at its core, is an act of service.
It’s simple: Help others rise
You don’t have to know the term servant leadership to understand it. The idea is simple: great leaders serve first. They ask questions before giving directions. They focus on purpose, not ego. They lift others higher instead of standing above them.
That approach inspires teams and drives results. When people feel supported and valued, they collaborate more freely, think more creatively and deliver work that resonates more deeply. Leadership rooted in service builds trust and trust is the foundation of every lasting brand.
Our connection with Leadership Rhode Island goes back more than two decades, when (add)ventures’ founder and CEO, Steve Rosa, joined the Tau Class while building both a company and a family. Since then, dozens of (add)venturists have followed his path, learning, leading and giving back to the community.
Over the years, those collaborations have taken many forms including producing campaigns for causes that matter, hosting meetings, and supporting initiatives that strengthen Rhode Island. Together with LRI alumni and partners, these efforts have helped create thousands of jobs and raised millions of dollars for organizations that make a difference. That’s what servant leadership looks like in motion. These small acts ripple outward through classrooms, boardrooms, and neighborhoods.

Leading by lifting
For today’s CMOs, CEOs and brand builders, the lesson is clear: leadership built on service isn’t soft—it’s strategic. When empathy guides decision-making, people feel trusted to experiment, innovate, and challenge convention. That’s where real creativity happens. It’s also what turns clients into collaborators and companies into communities.
In an age when trust is the ultimate differentiator, leading through service isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the most effective way to grow.
We’re proud of this honor. But we’re even prouder to be part of a community that leads with purpose and puts people first. This award from Leadership Rhode Island is a reminder. Titles and trophies fade. What lasts is the impact we make when we lead with heart and humility.
