Hospitals are lousy film studios. With virtual production, Baxter didn’t need one.
Hospitals are built for patient care, not production crews. When Baxter prepared to launch its biggest product introduction in a decade, virtual production made it possible to create realistic clinical environments without sacrificing confidentiality, flexibility or creative control.

Hospitals are lousy film studios
A medical device launch has to do more than show a product. It has to build confidence in how that product performs, fits into clinical workflows and supports the people who rely on it.
That’s not easy to capture in a traditional healthcare setting. Active hospitals come with real constraints, from patient privacy and safety protocols to unpredictable access and constantly changing clinical demands. For marketing and production teams, those constraints make it difficult to create polished launch content without disrupting the environment they’re trying to portray.
Virtual production gives healthcare and medtech brands a smarter alternative. By designing clinical spaces inside a controlled studio, teams can capture hospital-inspired environments with greater flexibility, privacy and precision. LED wall environments, in-camera visual effects and real-time rendering make it possible to show medical technology in context while keeping the product secure, the visuals consistent and the story focused.

Bringing Dynamo to market without compromise
When Baxter prepared to launch its Dynamo Series stretcher, the company’s biggest product introduction in a decade, confidentiality and control were critical.
The product needed to be shown in realistic clinical scenarios, but filming inside an active hospital would have introduced unnecessary complexity. There were privacy concerns, access limitations, scheduling variables and competitor branding that would distract from the launch. Baxter needed campaign content that felt real, protected the product and positioned Dynamo as a major innovation.
Our virtual production studio delivered the best of both worlds: the realism of a healthcare setting and the control of a purpose-built production environment.

Creating a launch-ready content library
The first shoot focused on still photography, building a comprehensive image library for launch materials across digital, print, sales and trade show materials.
To create a distinct visual world for Dynamo, we built a custom rotunda-style setting inside our virtual production studio. The environment positioned the stretcher as the hero while giving the team flexibility to capture a wide range of angles, details and compositions.
Soft, directional lighting added depth and drama. Modular architectural elements helped create a polished clinical feel without tying the visuals to one specific hospital location. Every prop, background and piece of equipment was intentional. Anything visible was either Baxter branded or neutral, eliminating competitor conflicts and keeping the focus where it belonged: on Dynamo.
Working in a controlled studio also gave the creative team the flexibility to refine lighting, camera angles and product details in real time. Instead of coordinating multiple locations, the team efficiently moved from hero photography to close-up product imagery in a single environment. The result was more than 1,600 still images Baxter could use across the full campaign ecosystem.

Bringing the product story to life
The second shoot focused on video, bringing Dynamo to life through clinical movement, product storytelling and campaign messaging.
Emergency rooms, clinical hallways and patient transport scenarios were created directly on the LED wall, allowing the team to show the stretcher in realistic healthcare environments while maintaining complete creative control.
The campaign theme, “Designed for the Toughest,” guided every creative decision. The videos needed to communicate durability, confidence and real-world relevance without overcomplicating the story. Virtual production allowed us to move efficiently between scenarios, maintain continuity and adjust visual details without relocating the crew or relying on unpredictable hospital access.
Because every environment was designed specifically for the campaign, each frame reinforced Dynamo’s positioning. Lighting, camera movement, background depth and equipment placement worked together to create believable clinical settings while keeping the product at the center of the story.
The video shoot produced three promotional videos Baxter could use across launch communications, sales conversations and broader brand storytelling.

A smarter way forward for healthcare brands
The biggest win wasn’t simply producing photography and video. It was giving the Baxter team complete confidence in the process. They were able to focus on telling the right story, not worrying about hospital access or protecting a confidential product.
That’s ultimately what virtual production made possible. Baxter’s team could stay focused on what mattered most: launching one of its biggest innovations in a decade. The process stayed under control and the client left with exactly what they came for: a launch campaign built with confidence.
