Inspired by moms

Moms are the unsung heroes, the biggest supporters, the closest confidantes, and so much more. As Mother’s Day approaches, we take a moment to pay homage to the incredible mothers who inspire us, both in our personal lives and within the walls of (add)ventures. Let’s extend our heartfelt thanks to these remarkable women who continuously motivate and uplift us. “God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers." - Rudyard Kipling

(add)venturists and their moms

Joe Kayata — Director of Communications

On Mother’s Day, I can’t help but think about my incredible mom who always puts everyone else first. Despite working over 50 years as an ER nurse helping others, she still prioritizes the needs of her family above her own. Her selflessness and dedication are truly inspiring and we are endlessly grateful for all that she does. I love her more than words can express and appreciate everything she does for us.

Mary Sadlier — President

My Mom is a true friend to everyone she meets. I love that she collects and keeps friends from so many phases of her life: cousins, junior high, St. Xavier’s High School, Rhode Island College, first teaching job in Pawtucket, RI (where she met my Dad!), neighbors, co-workers when she was our bookkeeper in the early years of (add)ventures, and now those she meets at her exercise and Tai Chi classes. She's also a vacation planner—whether it’s big touristy trips or weeks plopped on the beach. Some of our best memories were on vacation. So if you meet her, you'll have a friend for life!

Audrey Staples — Art Director

My own incredible mom gave me a childhood full of patience, unconditional love and laughter, which is why I always knew I wanted to be a mom myself. I have tried to embody these qualities in my own parenting, finding joy in the small moments and embracing the chaos with a sense of humor and grace. Becoming a mom has not only made me a better person, but it has also allowed me to master the art of multitasking and recognize the power of a big hug or an impromptu dance party.

Spencer Patton Desrosiers — Director, Digital Product

Many of you know that my mom is a low-vision, legally blind person. As a result of her condition, she’s always taught me how to empathize with others who have disabilities and the value of solving problems in a way that’s true to you. I was recently reminded of this the other morning when we were cooking breakfast when I noticed the toaster was set to 20 minutes for two slices of bread. I asked her if she needed help with the toaster (it’s a bit complex technology-wise and the label text is small) to which she politely declined and explained that the settings are irrelevant to her experience—because she knows when it’s perfectly cooked by smell alone.

Erin Norman — Vice President, Production + Implementation

Motherhood has been my life’s greatest gift. It has shaped who I am and who I strive to be. It has challenged me, taught me to not take things too seriously and to embrace absurdity. It has enriched my life in ways that I could have never imagined.
