A red Valentine typewriter.

Our first valentine

The first laptop wasn’t a computer, it was a Valentine.

A vintage Olivetti Valentine typewriter can be found at our EPIC HQ, along with a white one with a Polish keyboard. Why? We wrote our brand story on a human-powered typewriter to remind us to never lose the human touch in today’s digital world. Thirty years later in a world full of artificial intelligence, the genuine human genius of (add)ventures is needed now more than ever.

This classic design freed typewriters from office desks and put them into the world of coffee houses, airplanes and more, inspiring modern day laptop computers with its portability. While they were not a huge commercial success, these typewriters were popular among writers, celebrities and our own creative storytellers.

Fun Fact: Olivetti Valentine typewriters just like ours are on display at MOMA and the RISD Museum.
