Johnson & Wales University

Career Management Website

Johnson & Wales University (JWU) students used a career management system, called Best Fit CMS, to track progress of their career management education. The site, however, was difficult to use and maintain for the university’s students, faculty and staff. The system was out of date, and needed an overhaul to make it user friendly, and to accurately reflect changes in the Career Management Education curriculum.

(add)ventures partnered with JWU to reexamine Best Fit CMS. After a comprehensive assessment of the program and the Web site, (add)ventures helped develop new objectives, an updated structure, revised goals and the architecture for the site. The new visual design created an open, accessible and inviting site that was a stark contrast to its predecessor. The new design tested well with students, and was complete in time for implementation in the fall semester.

The redesigned Best Fit CMS was received tremendously well by students, faculty and staff. The new Web site is easier to use, generating only three calls to the university’s tech support center within the first several weeks of its launch, a dramatic decrease compared to the hundreds of technical support calls Best Fit CMS users made in the previous year.
